Our Approach
We operate on a social enterprise model that is mission-focused and not-for-profit. We strive to keep our service fees as low as possible for small, under-resourced nonprofits with big missions. Here’s how:
Sliding Scale
Our service fees are on a sliding scale based IRS reported assets, revenue, and expenses. Organizations with more resources pay closer to market rates that help subsidize the projects of organizations with smaller budgets.
Special Rates and Underwriting
We work with vendors, contractors, and corporate sponsors, and generous individuals to get reduced rates and underwriting support.
Low Overhead
We keep mostly remote offices, and our team consists of a carefully curated network of subcontracted freelancers instead of full-time staff. Every freelancer we work with is thoroughly vetted, has nonprofit experience, and is not reliant on Let It Shine for their main income, allowing them the flexibility of working within smaller budgets. You get top-tier communications support without the hefty agency price tag.

At Let It Shine, we believe that every nonprofit has a story worth telling—even if your budget is, well, shoe-stringy.
We’ve worked at nonprofits - we know there’s too much to do, not enough time, and not enough resources. Your missions are SO important, but they aren’t sustainable or scalable without resources, and the only way to get more resources is if people—donors, volunteers, funders, sponsors—KNOW YOU EXIST. But we know many of you don’t have the staff or expertise to carry out strategic, efficient, effective communications and marketing activities—and we frankly don’t think you should HAVE to. We want you to be able to focus on your mission, not worrying about open rates and SEO and media pitches.
So OUR mission is to make quality, strategic communications accessible to small nonprofits.

Our Name
Our History
Our name comes from the beloved song This Little Light of Mine—a perfect reflection of what we believe. Small nonprofits are beacons of hope in their communities, shining light in the darkness through their mission-driven work. But without a strong communications strategy, that light can be hidden under a bushel, unseen by the people who need it most. Our mission is to help nonprofits remove those barriers, amplify their message, and let their light shine as brightly as possible.
Let It Shine started as a solo venture. After years of working as a Nonprofit Communications Director, Adair Hill, our Founder and Lead Strategy Consultant, stepped away to raise a family. But the passion for nonprofit storytelling never left. Having worked both in an agency setting with a full team of communications professionals and as a one-person communications department, Adair saw firsthand the struggle small organizations face: tight budgets, limited staff, and the expectation to “do it all.”
Determined to bridge this gap, she launched Let it Shine to help nonprofits run effective communications on a shoestring budget. Originally founded as Let it Shine PR in 2018, the business quickly expanded to offer a broader range of communications services. In 2025, we rebranded to reflect our evolution into a full-service communications partner.
